Potential Obstacles
I can think of a few obstacles that I might run into while doing this project.
Time: Time in general is limited at times and while wanting to put all of my focus into Best Buddies Prom things like school and work might get in the way.
Solution: This can be avoided by managing my time and not procrastinating. If I stick to my timeline it should be successful.
My stress level: I normally thrive in high-stress environments but with how large this project is my stress will be through the roof.
Solution: Luckily I have an awesome presidency that can help me conquer this project and if I plan and work ahead the work load will be lighter towards the end causing less stress.
Flakey people: Various parts of this project are going to rely on other people completing their task. Things like fundraising, providing props/decorations/ tables, etc. Someone saying they will do something and don’t end up completing it can put a lot of stress on me.
Solution: If I stick to the plan I will have enough time to compensate for what others can’t complete. It will also be helpful to give them small tasks beforehand to see how they handle something simple. I also need to trust my volunteers and realize they are taking time out of their lives to help me.
Any part of my project falling through: room reservation confusion, not enough food, no one shows up, etc.
Solution: No matter what happens I need to realize that this project doesn’t have to be perfect. Things happen and that’s okay. Best Buddies Prom is about making the kids with disabilities shine. If they have fun and enjoy it then that is all that matters.
